Description

This sturdy spindle is designed to facilitate new or vintage doorknobs with threaded shanks of 16 TPI. Used with privacy latches and mortise locks, its hardened steel construction provides smooth operation and long-lasting wear. At 4 3/4" in length, it's ideal for thicker doors. Features a standard 9/32" thickness and stop pin for stability.

Dimensions: 4 3/4" L x 9/32" thick. 16 TPI.

Hardware Tip

If you need a threaded spindle you need to know what the threads per inch are and check to see that the spindle thickness is small enough to fit through the hub of your lock or latch.

Restoring old mortise locks

Comments:

The spindles, at 16 tpi are hard to find for older knobs. 4 3/4"" are even harder to get for 2 3/4"" thick doors. Good find, excellent results.

Saved my front door !

My home was built right after WWII (1940's) by my maternal grandfather. I am now the 3rd generation to have the opportunity to own this home. The front door knob on the outside of the door would no longer stay on because the threaded swivel spindle was stripped and worn out. I went to several lock specialists and the just said I would just have to order a whole new door that those parts were no longer made and there was NO way to fix it ! This was a hand made special over-sized door. My daughter went to google and found you guys and you saved my door and me lots of money for less than 10.00 ! Thank you so much !
