3 1/2-Inch Solid Brass Door Hinge With Ball Finials

Adding swing wood doors to an existing closet that had a sliding door in order to be more consistent with our 100+ year old house. Also purchased dummy door knobs to match. Antiqued brass finish doesn't really look old but better than a shiny lacquered brass finish; would have liked an un-lacquered alternative.

Good products make the ptojdct shine. Poor inexpensive materisls do not last a fail. These ptoducts withstand the test of time. My wife and I have been rehanging the doors in our home as we get the time and money. We started over 10 years ago. We have over 26 doors in our 140 year old home. We will one day see all our door/entry sets look identical. When we started there were more the nine diffeeent types of foor knobs and sets. As with most old homes the doors have settled and either scrspe or do not shut correvtly. We first re-size the doors and make the cut outs for the new hinges and sets, then we completely strip the doors, paint and reassemble. Once completed they look wonderful and elegant.

I am restoring doors in my 100 year old home. These hinges matched exactly what were on the doors and provided a rich character with the antique brass look.

These are beautiful, heavy and smooth as silk. The installation was more than tricky, but this wasn't the fault of the product, but more of that our 60+ year old doors were not standard, which is to be expected. There was a lot of finagling and trimming to make these fit properly. Just be aware of this and comfortable with your skill at retrofitting if that is your situation. All the fussing was totally worth it. Along with the new door handles it has certainly snazzed up our place.

These were replacements for originals which had become rusted. I had hoped (but did not expect) that the holes would exactly align with the originals but that was not the case. There were not standards back in the 1920s when our house was built so perfect alignment was really too much to hope for. Anyone doing the same thing should be aware of this and allow more time, since the old holes need to be refilled and the new redrilled.

Perfectly matches the thickness of 1920's hardware. If you are restoring ancient doors, these fit perfectly!

The hinges are very representative of the period and look and work well. My only complaint are the screws. They are very flimsy and the head breaks off. Some of the screws only had have half a head. Hopefully you will bring this to the attention of the manufacturer.
