3 1/2-Inch Solid Brass Door Hinge With Ball Finials

The quality of these is very good! My only issue is that the screw spacing varies slightly from standard 3 1/2 inch hinges so you need to fill and re-drill the holes. The new spacing is close enough where you may or may not get a good grip with the new hinge screws. If the spacing was standard, these would be perfect! For a new installation, they would be great!

We could not believe the quality and "" heft "" of these hinges. They are definitely solidly manufactured and they are a beautiful addition to our foyer.

The spacing between the two far mounting holes appears to be 6.5mm. All the old hinges in my area of the country appear to be spaced at 1 13/16"". The hole spacing is different from my existing hinges which makes installation a real pain. First one must fill the old holes, let the glue dry, then drill six new holes. I bought the unlacquered version of this, with the intent of tarnishing to match an existing house. I found these hinges had an uneven coating of something that was really hard to get off, that prevent the tarnishing from going evenly. I used vinegar for the tarnishing process. The slotted screws are historically correct, but also easy to strip or slip. Consider buying after-market cross head screws.

This is a top notch product. My carpenter who specializes in hanging doors was very impressed with the quality.

Just tried out a few replacing 100 year old worn out steel hinges. They fit well with some minor adjustments. No more squeaky doors! The quiet is wonderful. The polished brass finish adds a nice touch to the doors. Now buying enough to change out the rest of the doors in the house.
