3 1/2-Inch Solid Brass Door Hinge With Ball Finials

Like my other purchases from House of Antique Hardware I am thrilled. My contractor who installed them said they are the best reproduction of old hinges he has ever seen and easy to install. Contractor and homeowner both are happy- now thats rarely found

Replaced the completely corroded hinges in our 1947 house. These are identical in shape, but the finish is actually *much* nicer than the originals. The old ones had a faux brass finish that flaked off a few decades ago.

Installed on two doors, so far, original to the home. Hinge works smoothly, appears very solid. The 3 holes do not line up exactly with the original, so I did have to chisel an 1/8"" to line up the holes rather than drilling new holes. The swing was not affected by that adjustment just a bit of labor. The screws that come with the hinges are flat heads. They do strip easily, so caution on forcing the screws, bc this exposes the underlying color.

Simple install.

I ordered these to replace factory hinges. Normally, this is a quick swap based on size of hinge and hole pattern. This time, the holes were just off by 1/8 or so. Enough that we had to fill the existing holes and then drill new. On 6 solid wood doors with 3 hinges each, this was time-consuming and painstaking. On top of that, the screws are made of some kind of super soft metal so that the screws of the top hinges are all shearing off. Now, we have to figure out how to remove the screw bodies and install real steel screws. This is a $1,000 dollar mess, after all is said and done. STAY AWAY.

It was not an exact replica of what i have so the door didn't quite hand right. There werent enough screws and they were very cheap. Trying to get them in an old door was impossible even pre drilling the holes. I ended up using my own screws

Bought these hinges with ball finials to complement the Lancaster door sets with Old Town Crystal Knobs that I had previously purchased. I plan to eventually replace all my regular door hinges with them. Looks beautiful together.
