3 1/2-Inch Solid Brass Door Hinge With Ball Finials

Was very happy with product until I found out it wasn't made in USA it would be great if the hardware that we use to fix a 200yr old house was made in the same country

Purchased new 3.5"" and 4"" polished brass hinges for every door in our 1880's house. We also bought cheaper samples elsewhere to compare, which we promptly returned. If you want authentic quality, you want these hinges.

I bought these hinges for our 1916 Craftsman home. The original hinges were brass plated steel and beginning to rust through. The hinge plates fit perfectly in the cutouts in the door and frame. We did have to fill and re-drill the screw holes, though. The movement of the hinge is very clean and precise. I rated the difficulty level for an ""experienced handyman"" because re-hanging a door can be very difficult as it requires precision, some strength, and probably two people. If you have just spent many hours re-finishing your wooding doors and trims, there is real potential for causing damage while trying to wrangle a heavy door onto hinges that have to be perfectly aligned.

Beautiful, solid hinges that work smoothly and silently. It has brightened up my bathroom to have new hinges that are faithful reproductions of the original ones that had been painted over.

The hinges came in beautifully packaged the chrome finish was flawless and much to my surprise it came with 10 chrome straight screwdriver screws and 10 Phillips head screws it was your choice to use whichever one you want it.

Require plugging and redrilling the holes when used as a replacement. The top and bottom holes are closer to the center than the originals.

The hinges are beautiful and would work great, if it were not for the supplied screws. The mounting screws are extremely fragile. I drilled full pilot holes before attempting the installation, but that wasn't good enough. As I screwed them in, I noticed that the head would start to wobble... If I didn't back the screw out immediately, it would snap off. I stupidly tried to continue the installation after the first screw broke. Now I have 5 to dig out. I'm very unhappy and will not use or recommend these hinges. Note that none of these screws were actually tightened - they all broke before that was possible. I was using the slotted screws, but did also try the Philips head ones as the saga unfolded. The Philips head screws also had the same problem.
