Cast Iron Horizontal Rim Lock Set With W
Comments:
The rim lock set is as close to the oridgional as you can get. I was afraid i wouldn't find one, i searched for a while and was about to give up and a friend told me about House of Antque Hardware. It would have cost alot more to replace the door. Installation was so easy my 9year old grandson helped.

Cast Iron Horizontal Rim Lock set
Comments:
OK, I'm glad you asked. The body of the rim lock sets work absolutely great and their appearance matches what I have in my house. My problem was removing the knobs from the spindles. They were so tight on those spindles that I could not unscrew them by hand but had to utilize wrenches in order to separate them so that I could install them into the rimlocks themselves. This removed the finish from one of the door knob stems. These should have been able to be removed just by twisting them by hand, that's by hand, mind you, from the spindle to allow for their installation. Other than this, I liked the quality of the rest of the produce.
period door lockset

Spindle placement is not same as original sets so door reequired drilling and filling to be serviceable.
Perfect fit for our decor
Comments:
Our home was built during the Civil War era. We added a new bathroom between two bedrooms by removing the common wall and went 3' into each bedroom to make a 6'x 14' jack & jill bathroom. We needed 2 door-knobs w/bolt-locks for each bedroom leading into the bathroom. I found yours online and I'm very excited to say, they fit and work PERFECTLY! I'm very impressed with the AUTHENTICITY of the workmanship, size, color & weight to the rest of the door-knobs in our home which are all original. It's awesome to be able to use the skeleton key also. Our B & B guests appreciate the privacy they receive using the skeleton key.

We are remodeling the second story of a two story farm house. Loved the old doors but hardware was broken. Exact replica and easy to install.

Side Latches add a touch of class!
Comments:
The finish and general feel of the product is of the highest quality. Adds a touch of class to any home! At $70 per lock though, this product is applicable primarily to restoration projects and/or expensive homes. As for ease of installation, my $60/hr carpenter had to re-do the first lock he put in, alignment is tricky going through solid-core doors. Do not try this yourself if it is for the first time!
